19_Track_19.mp3THE FLOWER OF MANKIND1782 viewsRohini rippled its water
Tinged with the moonlit tide,
Mountainous high sumeru
Gazed on with wondering pride.
Planets in their starry orbits
Stopped for a while in pace,
Gods in their shaken heavens
Down to the earth they race.
Birds in their flaming feathers,
Beasts in their vest of Gold,
Fish on the water’s surface
Make themselves dare be bold.
Skies grey have lost their darkness,
Silver’s moon shines in state,
Lotuses open in glory,
Honouring Gautama great!
He’s sunder’s life’s big secret,
He’s measur’d life’s big dawn,
He knows the way and watchword,
Flower of Mankind is born!

In fact, the artistic tradition of Nepalese people is instrumental in elevating the status of Nepal in the world. In the past Nepalese artists produced many excellent images and were sent to Tibet, China, Japan and Mongolia. The purpose of this monograph is to provide some facts, materials and information on Buddhist Iconography gathered through extensive study of canonical texts relating to Vajrayana Buddhism. First_Discourse-Comparison_of_Versions.pdfThe Buddha's First Discourse: a Comparision of Versions2644 viewsThis is a study of the Dhammacakka-Pavattana-Sutta, officially considered the first discourse of the Buddha. The tradition acknowledges that he spoke about his teaching before the occasion of the delivery of this discourse. This study was undertaken during my Buddhist studies, which was one major of my Batchelor of Arts at the University of Queensland, completed in 2004. The study compares 17 possible versions of this discourse from four languages: Pali, Chinese, Tibetan and Sanskrit. Some interesting differences are discovered and an attempt is made to explain them. An expected core of all the discourses stands out, which shows why all major schools of Buddhism accept the Four Noble Truths as the essential teaching of the Buddha. (4 votes)
